    Superintendent

    David has served as a church planter, pastor, radio Bible teacher, and writer at various times since 1982. He has studied at Duke University, Talbot School of Theology, Hagan School of Business, and the C. S. Lewis Summer Institute. He co-founded the Care Net Pregnancy Center Of Rockland County, NY. He has served as Board Advisor for Compass Women’s Center and Trinity Christian School, both of Morgantown, WV. He and Barbara have two married sons, Christopher and Alex, and are proud grandparents as well!

  • Barb Linn

    Barb has enjoyed serving alongside her husband in various capacities since they began full-time Christian service. In her current role, she seeks to support and encourage our pastors' wives and women in ministry. She manages the district Hospitality House and invites all district workers to consider using this resource for a personal time of retreat or a family vacation. Barb has an MS in Computer Science and worked on military defense contracts before choosing to leave her secular career to raise two sons and partner in pastoral ministry. She has a deep commitment to the work of Alliance Women and is now serving as the National Secretary. She has over 30 years of experience doing pastor’s taxes. She enjoys almost any athletic activity, running A/V, demolition, and solving annoying computer problems.

  • David Murphy

    church advance specialist/Missions Mobilizer

    Dave Murphy served as an Administrator and adjunct professor at Practical Bible Training School (now Davis College) until he began his ministry at Valleyview Alliance Church in May 1991. He served over 24 years as the Lead Pastor at Valleyview and The Bridge Community Center until stepping down on June 28, 2015. During those 24 years, Dave has served on the District Executive Committee, the Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council and many other District committees. Dave has 33  years of ministry experience in local church ministry, administration and counseling. Dave enjoys reading and playing golf if anyone is interested. Dave and Soni were married on June 19, 1982. They have three grown sons: Benjamin (Ronica), Zachary (Lindsay), and Jeremiah (Melanie) plus two grandsons, Cyrus and Thaddeus.

  • Sally Fry

    leadership development Specialist


    Sally serves as a Leadership Development Specialist in the Northeastern District, focusing on leadership development, and completed the Alliance consecration requirements in 2018. She holds a Doctor of Strategic Leadership, along with degrees in Instructional Design and Technology, Education, and Psychology. Before joining the NED team, she worked in higher education for over two decades in student development and as a university adjunct faculty member while serving in lay ministry. 

  • MELANIE THORNTON

    ministry and administrative specialist

    Melanie began ministry at the district office in August 2020, and has served in various ministry roles including music and worship ministry, teaching, and discipleship, She studied Sacred Music and Bible at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and has travelled widely to experience how people worship; training and developing church music and worship ministry leaders; and experiencing first hand how God is growing His church worldwide. She especially enjoys teaching the Old Testament and brushing up on Biblical Hebrew. Melanie currently lives in Owego, NY where her husband Matthew serves as pastor of Lakeview Chapel. They are parents to two fantastic teenagers, Aria and Tristan, and have a nine year old chihuahua named Papi. 


  • Lisa Vogan

    Disciplemaking Specialist

    As a licensed Disciplemaking Specialist for the Northeastern District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, specializing in Children’s ministry, Lisa spends her time coaching, consulting, equipping, speaking and facilitating leadership growth across the District and the United States. Under the leadership of Melissa J. MacDonald, she serves as a Regional Connector for the National Children’s Ministry Team of the C & M A and a Coach for the Children’s Disciplemaking Leadership Certificate Course(CDLC). Lisa is a certified Administrator and Trainer for Plan to Protect™. With a Bachelor’s degree from Houghton College, completing Consecration in the C & M A in 2006, and over 30 years of ministry experience within discipleship and leadership contexts, Lisa’s greatest passion is to encourage, equip and empower ministry volunteers and leaders--strengthening the impact in our world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She believes: “Now more than ever we need each other to build the Kingdom of God. We are better together as we bring the love and grace of Jesus Christ into every neighborhood, every home, and heart of every man, woman and child.”

  • Ed Lyau

    Business Assistant

    Ed Lyau assumed the duties of District Bookkeeper in 2014. He is a lifelong resident of Rome, NY attending the local schools and Alliance church. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York and has worked in technical and manufacturing positions. Ed is privileged and blessed to assist as Business Assistant.


  • Terri Groh

    Alliance Women Director

    Terri serves as Northeastern Alliance Women's Director. She is also the Disciplemaking Ministries Director at Jamestown C&MA Church and has been in full-time ministry, serving alongside her husband, Dan, for the past 30 years. Terri holds a BA in Psychology from Nyack College and a Master's of Professional Studies from Alliance Theological Seminary. She is consecrated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Terri is an author and has written four women's devotional books - Words of Encouragement for a Discouraged World, One Clear, Still Night, Poured Out and Let's Have Coffee. Dan and Terri have three adult children - Nathan, Stephen and Emily. In her spare time, Terri loves to cook and sew.
